Army bomb squad called to Dublin housing estate after 'suspicious device' found

Members of the Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal were called to a north Dublin housing estate after a "suspicious device" was found.

The incident happened in Hazelcroft in Finglas on Friday afternoon. Gardai attended the scene and requested the services of the Army EOD were requested.

A source told Dublin Live that around 30 houses were evacuated by emergency services. Officers confirmed that the device was removed from the scene for further analysis and an investigation is ongoing.

A garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "Gardai attended to an incident at a property in Finglas, Dublin 11 this afternoon, Friday 19th August 2022.

"A suspicious device was located on the property and the services of Army EOD were requested. The device was removed from the scene for further analysis. Investigations are ongoing."
