Armed robbery by two blade-wielding thugs at Post Office sparks investigation

Two blade-wielding thugs stormed a post office in Oldham during a terrifying armed robbery. Police are appealing for information following the incident this morning (Tuesday).

Officers were called around 10.30am with Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) also attending the scene on Oxford Street, Werneth.

GMP say two men entered the shop and threatened staff with a 'bladed weapon'. They left with a 'sum of money'.

A cordon was in place for around four hours.

Police said no one was hurt. No arrests have been made and an investigation has now been launched.

GMP said in a statement: "We were called to reports of a robbery at the Post Office on Oxford Street, Werneth, Oldham, at about 10:30am today (3 May 2022). Two men entered the premises and, after threatening staff with a bladed weapon, left with a sum of money.

"No-one was injured, no arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. Anyone who has information can contact police on 0161 856 9097 quoting incident 977 of 3/5/22.
