French police are currently on the lookout for armed robbers who targeted a jewelry store on one of Paris' most upscale streets. Reports suggest that the exclusive Harry Winston boutique, known as the 'Jeweler to the Stars,' was the focus of the robbery.
The armed robbers, who arrived and departed on motorbikes, fired a shot outside the store but fortunately, no casualties were reported. Video footage aired by BFM-TV captured individuals dressed in black fleeing the scene on two motorbikes.
Upon contacting the store, a staff member confirmed that a robbery had taken place on Saturday but declined to provide further details. The luxury boutique was sealed off as police officials conducted their investigation throughout the afternoon.
The Paris prosecutor's office, which is overseeing the case, identified the robbery location as Avenue Montaigne, where the Harry Winston store is situated. However, they did not officially confirm whether the jeweler was indeed the primary target.
Despite attempts to reach out for comment, Harry Winston did not immediately respond to inquiries from The Associated Press. Authorities have not disclosed whether the robbers managed to steal any jewels, nor have they estimated the value of any potential loot.
This incident is not the first time that the high-end store has been targeted. In 2015, eight individuals were convicted in connection with a notable 2008 heist, during which three gunmen disguised in women's clothing made off with approximately $92 million worth of valuables.
