Armed police swoop on Scots property and seize suspected 'air weapon' inside

Armed cops swooped on a Fife property after receiving reports of an 'air weapon' inside.

An emergency operation was launched on Laurel Crescent, Kirkcaldy, on Tuesday afternoon.

Several police vehicles were spotted on the street, as well as a number of specialist officers.

The armed cops were photographed outside of a property on the street, wearing protective gear.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not intially known, but Police Scotland confirmed to the Record officers were in attendance.

It is understood the incident is no longer ongoing and officers have since left the scene having recovered the suspect item.

Detective Inspector Karen Muirhead said: “Officers attended at Laurel Crescent, Kirkcaldy at around 2.50pm on Tuesday, 10 May, 2022 following reports of what is believed to be an air weapon within a property.

“Officers have recovered the item.

“No-one was injured and there was no wider threat to the public. Enquiries are ongoing.”
