Armed police have swooped on a Kilmarnock estate this evening.
Officers with guns have been patrolling the streets of Onthank in the town with dozens of police vehicles also dispatched to the area.
Specialist police armed with guns have been stationed on Knockinlaw Road but a huge police presence has been spotted near to Onthank Primary school and at the Spar on Meiklewood Road.
Officials have not stopped traffic from accessing streets but police have been in and around properties and an armed officer has been spotted directing traffic on Knockinlaw Road.
At the moment, it's unclear why police have descended on the estate.
Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
