Police swooped on a busy city centre road following reports of an 'aggressive' man making threats. Eyewitnesses reported seeing armed police descend on Deansgate earlier today (January 5).
Greater Manchester Police says it was called out to the scene at around 11am following a disturbance. A man has been arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct and abusive behaviour.
Images from the scene show at least three police cars parked up along the road, close to the Spinningfields area. Officers made an arrest near to the Oddfellows House building, between Hardman Street and Atkinson Street.

Deansgate remained open while police were in attendance. A spokesperson for GMP said: "At approximately 11am on Thursday, January 5 2023, officers were called to reports of a disturbance on Deansgate in Manchester.
"One man was reported to be acting aggressively and making threats. Officers attended and a man was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct and abusive behaviour."
