Armed police were sent out to search for three teenagers who were reportedly seen with a gun.
A police helicopter was seen circling over Formby and the Ainsdale area of Southport on Saturday, May 21. Merseyside Police confirmed armed officers were called to Moor Lane in Ainsdale at 4.35pm today.
It came following a report three men were carrying a firearm, which could have been an airgun. Armed police searched the area around Moor Lane for the teenagers but were unable to track them down.

They are believed to be aged between 15 and 19 years old. A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We can confirm that armed response officers were called to Moor Lane, Ainsdale, at 4.35pm today (Saturday, 21 May) following a report of three males with a gun (possibly an airgun).
"The armed officers attended and searched the area, but were unable to trace the males, who are believed to be between 15 and 19 years."
