A man was reported to be seen being chased by a group of people in the High Street area of Kingswood on Tuesday night (February 28), sparking an armed police response.
Officers from Avon and Somerset Police confirmed they received reports of a group of men chasing another in the area at around 9.30pm, but did not confirm whether the assailants were armed. However, local reports on social media have suggested that members of the group may have been carrying "machetes".
A spokesperson did confirm that a police helicopter was deployed, as well as armed officers, due to "the nature of the information received."

However, despite a search of the local area, they say that none of the men involved were found, and no injuries had been reported at the time.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “At just before 9.30pm on Tuesday (February 28), we received calls reporting that a group of men were chasing another man in the High Street area of Kingswood.
“Due to the nature of the information received, armed officers were among those to attend the scene, and the National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter was also deployed.
“A search of the local area was carried out but none of the men were located, and nobody was found to be injured.
“Enquiries into this incident are ongoing. If anyone has information which would assist, please call us on 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5223048757 .”
