Armed police descended on a street in County Durham after a man threatened to harm himself.
Emergency services were called to a home in Basingstoke Road, Peterlee, at 12.10pm on Monday. Officers attended the scene after reports of a man threatening to harm himself at a property on the road.
Both Durham Constabulary and the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) attended the scene. However, although one crew from the ambulance service's hazardous area response team was dispatched, they were stood down by police at the scene.

Witnesses from the scene saw armed police arrive in the street in response to the incident which officers confirmed remains ongoing.
A Durham Constabulary spokesperson said: "Police were called at 12.10pm today following reports of a man threatening to harm himself at a property in Basingstoke Road, Peterlee. The incident remains ongoing."
A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) said: "We were called by police at 12.47pm at an address in Peterlee. One crew from our hazardous area response team was dispatched but they were stood down by police at the scene."
