Armed men burst into pub just an hour after shots fired on street

A man armed with a gun burst into a pub in Bolton last night - just an hour after a suspected shooting in the town.

Officers were scrambled to the pub on Vernon Street at around 6.30pm. Three men - one of them armed with a suspected firearm - had reportedly gone inside and caused a 'disturbance'.

The gun was not fired, police said. No injuries were reported.

No arrests have been made and an investigation is now underway. Just an hour earlier, shots were fired on Parkfield Avenue in Farnworth.

Officers were then scrambled to other serious incidents nearby. A vehicle was reported to have driven into another vehicle on Bradford Road, and a Jeep had been driven into a home on Lavender Road.

Police said the firearm incident in the pub, and the incidents in Farnworth, 'are not believed to be connected'. A force spokesperson said: "The incident is not believed to be connected to wider disturbances on Parkfield Avenue and Lavender Road in Farnworth last night (19 November 2022), but investigators are keeping an open mind."

Officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident on Vernon Street - or may have footage - to please share it.
