Armed gardai and ambulances at scene of ‘bomb scare’ in Letterkenny as building evacuated

Emergency services are at the scene of a suspected ‘bomb scare’ in Letterkenny, Co Donegal.

A number of offices in a building at Scally Place have been evacuated.

The ongoing incident began around 1.30pm.

The Garda armed response unit and a number of ambulances are currently at the scene.

Staff at Scally McDaid Roarty Medical Practice were among those evacuated.

The medical practice issued an update on social media, writing: “There is a bomb scare at Scally Place. We have been evacuated from the building until further notice. More info as we get it.”

Gardai confirmed to the Irish Mirror that they are "attending an incident of a suspect device".

A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardai are currently attending an incident of a suspect device that is occurring on Justice Walsh Road, Letterkenny, Co Donegal.

“As gardai are still on location at the scene, no further information is available at this time.”
