There will be at least one Ulster team in the last four of this year’s All-Ireland Championship with Armagh set to face neighbours Monaghan in Saturday’s quarter-final.
Armagh claimed a surprise win over Galway in their final Group Two game in Carrick-on-Shannon and, with Tyrone being held by Westmeath in Kingspan Breffni, the Orchard County topped the group.
That extra week off could be vital as Monaghan had to go through the preliminaryquarter-finals after losing out to Donegal in Omagh.
The Farney bounced back to claim a last-gasp victory over Kildare last Saturday with Conor McCarthy scoring the winner with the last kick of the game.
Monaghan defeated Armagh in their most recent Championship clash in 2021’s Ulster SFC semi-final, but Kieran McGeeney’s men took the points when they met in Castleblayney in the first game of this season’s Allianz Football League.

Saturday’s game starts at 6pm and is part of a double-header with Tyrone vs Kerry at 3.45pm.
