Armagh's Ciaran Mackin will sit out Sunday’s clash with Donegal after all.
While Stefan Campbell and Aidan Forker had their one-match bans thrown out by the Central Appeals Committee this week, Armagh didn’t take Mackin’s case that far as it is believed that he has an eye injury which would have ruled him out of the trip to Ballybofey in any event.
It was initially reported that all three had succeeded in having their suspensions revoked.
A fourth Armagh player, Rian O’Neill, successfully had his one-match ban quashed by the Central Hearings Committee last week.
The suspensions arose from last month’s Donegal-Armagh League tie in Letterkenny, which was marred by a fracas that broke out late in the game.
Two Donegal players, Neil McGee and Odhrán McFadden-Ferry, were also proposed for one-match bans but, unlike Armagh, Donegal decided against challenging the ruling and so the duo will take no part in the Ulster quarter-final.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that Tipperary senior hurling coach Tommy Dunne has been proposed for a three-month ban arising out of last Sunday's Munster SHC defeat to Waterford.
Dunne was red-carded by referee Johnny Murphy after a verbal altercation and has apparently been reported for a Category 5 infraction.
Should the ban stick, Dunne would be forbidden by rule from having any involvement with the team whatsoever for a 12-week period. Given that the All-Ireland final takes place on July 17, he would likely miss the rest of their campaign.
