Ex Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips has described a terrifying health scare which saw her one-year-old granddaughter Emme Bow rushed to hospital.
The TV favourite, 79, said she felt her "world turn upside down" last week as Emme went limp "like a rag doll" and was rapidly loosing weight - with the family unable to determine the cause.
Writing on Instagram on Sunday, Arlene said: "My world was turned upside down this week when my beautiful granddaughter #emmebow was rushed into hospital and my daughter @alanastewartmama had no idea why she was rapidly loosing weight and like a little rag doll.
"Fortunately the hospital identified what was wrong which was the result of a virus and now she’s home and really on the mend which has lifted my spirits enormously and I’m totally ready to get into my rehearsals on @houseofflamenka full of smiles."
Arlene posted a picture of little Emme looking much better putting on her pink wellington boots.
Fans took to the comment section to share their well wishes.
One wrote: "What a scare. I am so glad all is well", while another added: "Gosh that’s scary Arlene. So much love xxx".
Alana, who is also mum to Lila Primrose, three, is the eldest of Arlene's children from her marriage to Danny Noble.
Arlene also is proud mum to Abigail, with her partner Angus Ion.
The talented dancer is well known for her stint on the Strictly judging panel.
In 2009, aged 64, she was dropped from Strictly Come Dancing ’s first judging panel amid rumours that the BBC felt she was too old.
She was replaced by Alesha Dixon, 35 years her junior.
Speaking about the sudden axe back in May, Arlene told The Mirror: "I gave myself 48 hours to kick, scream, cry and sob, and eat scones with cream and jam, then I made myself wake up and get on with it,”
“I reflect and think, ‘Wow, I really didn’t ask the questions I needed to ask.’ I was very fragile because I had a bereavement the day before [her manager died].
"I wanted to know in detail and I wanted to know the real reason at the point when they decided for me to go, yet they kept me hanging on for so long with the possibility that there would be five judges."
Despite the heartache, Arelene continued to be a prominent face in TV.
She recently guest-starred as a judge on ITV show Dancing On Ice following her appearance on I’m A Celebrity in 2021.
