Arlene Phillips exposes Jubilee pageant drama after 'serious' car issue with Twiggy

Arlene Phillips found herself caught up in what she referred to as a 'serious' issues involving modelling icon Twiggy at Sunday's Platinum Jubilee Pageant.

After the superb Party at the Palace concert drew a huge audience, both in front of Buckingham Palace and as millions of viewers tuned in from home, the Pageant was the final show piece of the four day celebration of Queen Elizabeth II' s seven decades on the throne. And, as well as a balcony appearance from The Queen right at the end, the afternoon was filled with well known faces from British pop culture over the years.

There were open top buses dedicated to the 1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s and 2010s, featuring the likes of Sir Cliff Richard, sporting stars like Daley Thompson and Tessa Sanderson, Chris Tarrant, Holly Willoughby, Angela Rippon, Tony Blackburn, Nicole Scherzinger, Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell. And, on the subjects of world famous models, Twiggy was left furious after a Jaguar car carrying former Strictly judge Arlene billowed smoke in her direction.

Arlene opened up about the unseen Queen's Jubilee drama during an interview on Good Morning Britain, when she told hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley: "There was a serious, serious issue. There were seven Jags, seven dames in Jags and my Jag was absolutely belching out black smoke which was going straight into Twiggy's car, which was behind me and she was really upset."

Fellow guest Kate Garraway, who was also on a bus, joked: "You're lucky you didn't end up in the Tower," as Arlene continued: "I found it hard to breathe and wave and smile as it was coming to us, but it was really coming to her. So, she emailed and said 'this has to stop.' We had to pull over and then Twiggy's car overtook and off we went."

There was further drama with the cars carrying the Dames as the one carrying Bake Off judge Pru Leith broke down and had to be pushed.
