Arizona State’s Bobby Hurley Gets Contract Extension Through 2026

Arizona State men’s basketball coach Bobby Hurley agreed to two-year contract extension that will keep him with the Sun Devils’ program through the 2026, the school announced Tuesday.

Hurley has led ASU to four seasons of 20 or more wins, inlcuing the 2022-23 campaign, where the Sun Devils finished 23–13 and fifth in the Pac-12.

“He [Bobby Hurley] has made it clear to us that he wants to be here and we have done likewise with him,” Sun Devils athletic director Ray Anderson said in a statement. “We share a strong confidence in the present and future state of Sun Devil men’s basketball.”

The Sun Devils reached the semifinals of the Pac-12 tournament and entered the 2023 men’s NCAA tournament after defeating Nevada in a play-in game in Dayton, Ohio. However, the No. 11 seed Sun Devils lost to No. 6 seed TCU 72–70 in the first round of the Big Dance.

Hurley has posted a 141–113 record as Arizona State’s head coach. While the 51-year-old coach has posted multiple 20-plus win campaigns, the 2022-23 season was one that showed a layer of major progression under his leadership. The Sun Devils went 14–17 in the ‘21-22 season and 11–14 in the ‘20-21 campaign. After those two losing seasons, Hurley righted the ship and ASU returned to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2019.
