The office of Arizona GOP Senate candidate Kari Lake was placed on lockdown on Tuesday after a campaign staffer opened a package containing a 'suspicious' substance. According to a campaign spokesperson, an intern at the campaign's Phoenix office discovered an envelope with a suspicious substance and a note that read 'caution anthrax.'
Upon finding the package, the campaign immediately contacted authorities, leading to a response from multiple law enforcement agencies and a hazmat team. While the substance has not been confirmed to be anthrax, it is currently undergoing testing to determine its nature.
In a statement addressing the incident, Kari Lake expressed her concerns about the escalating attacks against her, attributing them to the 'radical left' and mainstream media. She described the envelope as an attempt to intimidate and silence her, emphasizing that it is not just a personal attack but an assault on the movement she represents. Lake asserted her determination not to be intimidated and called for those responsible to be held accountable.
'The time to unite against these dangerous, un-American tactics is now,' Lake stated, highlighting the need to address such threats to ensure the safety and integrity of the political process.
