Ariana Grande is trying to make "fetch" happen. The pop star has shared a teaser on social media giving fans a first look at the forthcoming video for her hit single "thank u, next" – which is massively inspired by the hit movie Mean Girls.
Grande has managed to assemble some of the original cast, including Aaron Samuels actor Jonathan D Bennett, to appear in the clip, along with fellow pop star and friend Troye Sivan.
Each member of the cast talks to the camera as they reveal a piece of gossip, in the same style as the original Mean Girls movie when the characters talked about Cady Heron and Regina George.
"Ariana Grande told me my hair looked sexy pushed back," Bennett says. "She's not wrong."
Pop singer Sivan, who released his track "Dance to This" featuring Grande earlier this year, is shown in a school corridor, commenting: "I heard she's a lesbian now and dating some chick called Aubrey. It's f***ing sick."
The video clip ends with the words "Coming Soon" in the same font that was used to promoteMean Girls
Grande's song "thank u, next" is the biggest hit of her career so far, and references the positive impact her ex-boyfriends had on her life, but also promotes the idea of self-love.
The post-Sweetener single is currently enjoying its third week at No.1 in the charts. Over the past week, Grande has been teasing its nostalgia-packed video, which will pay homage to romantic comedies including Legally Blonde, 13 Going on 30, Mean Girls and Bring It On.
