Ariana Grande shares brain scan showing 'terrifying' impact of PTSD two years on from Manchester

Ariana Grande has shared an image of her brain scan to highlight the impact of post-traumatic stress disorder, branding it “hilarious and terrifying”.

The 25-year-old singer candidly addressed her mental health almost two years on from the tragic Manchester Arena attack as she posted images of a recent scan.

In the first two images, Grande shows a “healthy brain” side-by-side with a brain suffering from PTSD trauma.

Grande shared an image of her own computerised scan with several areas of highlighted activity. “Hilarious and terrifying. Not a joke,” Grande wrote on her Instagram.

Last year, Grande revealed she had been left with PTSD after the events of May 22, 2017 when a suicide bomber detonated explosives in the foyer after the conclusion of her Dangerous Woman tour. Some 22 people were killed in the attack, including children, and many more were injured.

In an interview with British Vogue, Grande opened up about coping with what happened and revealed that she is suffering symptoms of PTSD.

“It's hard to talk about because so many people have suffered such severe, tremendous loss,” she told the publication. “But, yeah, it's a real thing.

“I know those families and my fans, and everyone there experienced a tremendous amount of it as well.

“Time is the biggest thing. I feel like I shouldn't even be talking about my own experience - like I shouldn't even say anything. I don't think I'll ever know how to talk about it and not cry.”

Grande recently told fans that she was “thrilled” to be returning to Manchester later this year to headline Pride.

The US singer said that she “couldn’t wait to see fans” as she tops the bill at the city’s annual LGBT event.

It will be the second time Grande has performed in Manchester since the attack. A week after the atrocity, the singer returned to the city with a benefit concert to raise money for the victims’ families and survivors of the attack.
