Jodie Comer, Ariana DeBose and Kandi Burruss lead stars on Tony Awards 2023 red carpet

Jodie Comer, Ariana DeBose and Kandi Burruss are among those who graced the red carpet at the Tony Awards this evening ahead of this year's winners being announced.

The awards ceremony - which recognises achievement in Broadway productions, from performers to costume designers - is being held at United Palace in New York City.

Former nominee Ariana will host the ceremony once again and the show is set to be broadcast live on CBS, as well as through the streaming platform Paramount+.

A host of celebrities will be in attendance for the occasion, with some of them having already graced the red carpet ahead of the main ceremony commencing later tonight.

The ceremony's host Ariana graced the red carpet wearing an elegant sparkly gown that appeared to feature an oversized bow on the back. She accessorised with jewellery.

Jodie Comer - who is nominated in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play for her performance in the play Prima Facie - has also arrived at the venue.

She was photographed at the venue wearing a glamorous navy dress that featured understated sparkles. Jodie opted for minimal accessories, seen with just a pair of earrings.

Samuel L. Jackson is also present, with him nominated in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play category for his role in August Wilson's The Piano Lesson.

He posed on the red carpet wearing a traditional navy suit, stood alongside his wife LaTanya Richardson, who opted to wear a lengthy dark jacket that featured green cuffs.

Another couple on the red carpet were Real Housewives of Atlanta's Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker. They co-produced August Wilson's The Piano Lesson which is nominated.

Kandi was seen in a glamorous black and white gown, whilst her husband Todd chose a black suit, which featured some sparkly elements, for the special occasion tonight.

Other nominees in attendance include Ben Platt, who is competing in the Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical category following his role in the musical Parade.

Jessica Chastain is another nominee in attendance, with her up for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play following her role in A Doll's House.

Alex Newell - who is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for their role in Shucked - was also spotted on the red carpet this evening.

Sara Bareilles - who is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for her role in Into the Woods - has also been spotted on the red carpet.

Lea Michele - who missed out on a nomination for her role in Funny Girl because actors must originate a role in a production to be eligible - also posed on the red carpet.

Anna Wintour is among the other guests in attendance, with Vogue's editor-in-chief wearing a gold dress that she accompanied with a pair of dark sunglasses.

Former nominee Lupita Nyong'o is also at the event, having been spotted at the venue wearing an understated black suit, which included a silver top and a black jacket.

Marcia Gay Harden - who won a Tony Award back in 2009 for her role in the play God of Carnage - is attending this year's ceremony alongside a host of other acclaimed actors.

She was spotted on the red carpet wearing a lengthy black dress. Marcia added a pop of colour to her look by sporting red lipstick and accessorised with some bracelets.

Julianne Hough - who is hosting a pre-show event alongside fellow actor Skylar Astin this evening - has also arrived at the venue ahead of the celebration of Broadway talent tonight.

She opted to wear a floral dress for the occasion, with her photographed posing in the attire at the theatre in New York where the awards ceremony is being held.

Also in attendance is content creator Dylan Mulvaney. She has ditched her typically dark hair to go blonde and was spotted wearing a sparkling floor-length black gown.

Awards in tonight's ceremony include Best Musical. The nominees in this category this year are & Juliet, Kimberly Akimbo, Shucked, Some Like It Hot and New York, New York.

Other categories include Best Play. The plays nominated for that award this year are Ain't No Mo', Between Riverside and Crazy, Cost of Living, Fat Ham and Leopoldstadt.

The ceremony will be broadcast live on CBS in the US from 8pm ET. Premium subscribers on Paramount+ can stream it live, whilst others will have access on demand tomorrow.
