Argos shoppers dash to buy £40 heater that costs 'pennies' to run

Shoppers are flocking to Argos to buy a heater that costs "pennies" to run as more and more people look for cheaper alternatives amid the cost of living crisis.

With energy prices at an all-time high, households are taking stock of what things actually cost to run, and many common appliances, it turns out, are seriously energy-guzzling. As people find ways to keep warm without putting the central heating on, many are purchasing halogen heaters.

Martin Lewis' MSE says that halogen heaters are a cost-friendly way of keeping warm as temperatures plummet. On the website, halogen heaters are recommended as a way of warming up quickly, according to the MEN

The MSE team said: "Halogen heaters are directional. Once on, you instantly feel the heat. As soon as you turn them off, the heat quickly dissipates."

Thousands of people have given Argos' £40 halogen heate r five star reviews. It is one of the highest-rated halogen heaters at a reasonable price.

One shopper said: "My wife required a little extra heating whilst watching TV - so, a few weeks ago, I ordered a Beldray heater online and collected it the next next morning. It could not have been more simple and straight forward. Thankfully, my wife is delighted with it. Moreover, it avoids having to use the more-expensive gas fire, it directs the warmth straight onto her."

Another said: "I bought this heater as I didn’t want to heat the whole house when I’m working from home in one room, it’s ideal for heating only where is needed."

A third person said: "Bought this for winter and it's great as it means I can heat the room I'm in up for pennies". Another shopper said: "Very good value for money, cheap to run, safety feature causes cut out if they're knocked over and they put out a fantastic amount of heat (I bought two 'cos they're quite compact and it means we can heat upstairs and down); would recommend and would buy again."

Halogen heaters are estimated to cost around 40p an hour to run. You can buy the Beldray 1.2kW Halogen Heater for £40 on the Argos website here.
