Argos issues gift card warning to customers with stores closing across Ireland in weeks

Argos has issued a gift card warning to customers ahead of the UK retailer pulling all its stores from the Irish market.

The company confirmed in January that it is closing all 34 stores in the Republic of Ireland by June 24, which will see 580 jobs lost. Some stores have already closed but all stores will close before the end of next month.

"We're sorry to say that we're closing our Argos stores in the Republic of Ireland on 24 June," they said in an updated statement.

Argos stopped its home delivery service on Tuesday, March 22.

A statement at the time read: “We have made the difficult decision to close our Argos stores and online operations in the Republic of Ireland by June 24, 2023. Customers can still order Argos products using our Click and Collect service on argos.ie until stores close.

“However, our home delivery service stops on March 22 and we have stopped selling some larger products in stores. We will continue to honour all home delivery orders placed before March 23.”

Now just a month out from the imminent closures of all stores in Ireland, Argos has issued a number of warnings.

They stated that customers can still reserve products on argos.ie until June 22.

In addition, any unspent balance on a customer's Argos Gift Card can be spent in-store until June 24.

Anyone that has a question about Argos' products in-store has been told to pop in by 24 June. "If you can't, our call centre team are always on hand," they advised.

"Thank you to our colleagues and customers for your patience at this time," their updated statement reads.
