Here's what Argos suggest...
1. Keep your fridge freezer 2/3 full
The retailer says that with less air to cool, a fuller fridge doesn't have to work as hard as one that is empty, or near empty. Of course with the cost of living crisis, filling up the fridge isn't as easy and can be quite costly. However if you are able to do keep it two thirds full, you will use less energy
In addition, the contents help keep each other cool when it's sufficiently full.
2. Switch to an air fryer
You. may have already purchased an air fryer or have one on your wishlist
Argos have highlighted that using this kitchen gadget uses less energy than heating up a fan oven.
So if you're upgrading from a convection oven, their range of air fryers is a good place to start as not only will it cut down your bills, it will cook your food faster, and often with better results.
3. Wash at a lower temperature
Don't feel the need to set your washing machine on the highest temperature as this often is not necessary. Clothes with stains or marks don’t need a lot of heat and a lower temperature will work just as well for freshening them up, say Argos.
4. Don't dry your clothes on radiators
When you cover a radiator with clothes, it has to work harder to reach the right temperature meaning you could be increasing your energy bills for no reason, and it could be the reason as to why you still feel cold even with the heating on. Instead of wasting lots of valuable energy and blocking heat from warming up the room, instead opt for an indoor clothes airer.
5. Ways to stay warm
Experts are urging people to begin by heating the person and not the home in a bid to keep down energy bills.
Ways to do this include blankets as well as layering such as putting on a hoodie or slippers and fluffy socks. However, there are other things that people can do.
Electric blankets are another popular item when it comes to what people are buying to save on their bills in the long run. Electric blankets are cheap to run and bonus points, they make your bed toasty warm making it even harder to leave.
