Argos is stocking a £25 electric blanket that's 'much cheaper than using the heating'

Shoppers have been praising high street giant Argos for its £25 electric blanket they say is "much cheaper than using the heating". The budget energy-saving item had already received hundreds of five-star reviews online and has been dubbed a bit of a lifesaver by customers during this cost of living crisis.

From October 1, the energy price cap will increase even further, Manchester Evening News reports. This means that people will have to fork out even more for their heating and so, as a result, many are choosing to keep their heating off completely this winter and look for other ways to stay warm.

The energy-efficient electric blanket, which costs £25, claims to cost from 1p a night to run as well as reducing heating bills for many homeowners - and it's made of soft and cosy material, perfect for snuggling up on a crisp winter's evening. The blanket also boasts three heat settings, so you can choose the right temperature for you and even features overheat protection for complete peace of mind.

However, it's worth noting that experts recommend turning the blanket off before falling asleep, in order to regulate your core temperature.

It also comes in two sizes - a small single priced at £20 and a small double priced at £25 and is easily fitted onto your mattress thanks to its convenient corner straps and, what's more, it's also machine washable so you can enjoy that freshly washed, cosy bedding feeling week after week. One review said the blanket is an "excellent alternative to putting the heating on," in their online review, adding: "I'm really glad I purchased this because I'll never have to get in bed and feel cold sheets again."

They continued: "On the lowest setting it just takes the chill off and makes you feel nice and cosy. It doesn't cover the entire surface of the bed and I would like it to be slightly longer so that the control was higher up and fully under the pillow but it is on the side so I don't lie on it.

"The straps mean that it fits securely to the bed under the sheet and there is no movement."

A second shopper wrote: "So glad I've got this blanket! Used it a couple of times and even in the lowest setting it keeps me warm! Worth spending a couple of extra £’s on a decent blanket especially for when colder weather is back."

While a third said: "Had a cheeky test out the other night! Glorious! Will be a life saver if we have a chilly winter!"

In addition to the blanket's hundreds of high-rated reviews, it also comes with a two-year manufacturer's guarantee, so you're completely covered if the worst should happen. You can grab yours here.
