Argentina series part 1: Indigenous people reclaiming their land

In Argentina, the descendants of the natives make up only 1.49 percent of the argentinan population.

Recent studies however say that over 50 percent of argentines have at least one indigenous ancestor on one parental lineage.

Despite this biological connection, descendants of the aboriginal groups suffer from discrimination and struggle to have their rights to their ancestral land recognized.

In the first of a two-part series, Pauline Bandelier takes us to meet the Diaguita ethnic group, that includes 14 tribes, including the Quilmes.
