SCOTT ARFIELD tonight signed a new contract extension to keep him at Rangers for another year.
The midfielder's Ibrox deal was set to expire in the summer, but he's agreed new terms to stay in Glasgow until 2023.
Arfield, 33, first joined Rangers on a free transfer from Burnley in 2018 and has been a regular first-team player for the club ever since.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst has rewarded Arfield with new terms as the Canadian international targets a Europa League and Scottish Cup double to close out the year.
And just as importantly for Arfield was offering stability for his family by staying in Glasgow.
He said: “I am absolutely delighted to have signed this new deal.
I’ve always looked for longevity and stability at a club, and I am so pleased to have had that and have it going into the future here at Rangers.
“The next couple of weeks are so exciting for us with the potential silverware on offer, and also the opportunity to secure Champions League football.
“When you get to this stage in your career, your family is the most important thing, and I couldn’t imagine moving them again. To be staying put at Rangers is just fantastic for all of us.”
Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson added:“We are pleased that Scott has extended his stay with Rangers.
We all know the positive energy that Scott brings to our group and as a player and personality, he was someone that Gio was immediately impressed with upon his arrival as manager.
“We agreed this extension a few weeks ago but Scott naturally wanted to give full concentration to our game schedule ahead of formally signing this morning.”
