A girlfriend was left in disbelief over her partner's spelling of Lanzarote in a Google search - after he searched for holidays in 'lands of roti'.
Alisha Gibson was out for lunch with her boyfriend Scott Clarkson when the pair were brainstorming where to go on holiday together. The Canary Island of Lanzarote sprung to mind.
Alisha, 23, went to grab their food and left mechanic Scott to his own devices on her phone, but when she returned discovered he'd typed 'lands of roti holidays' in the search engine. The car company service advisor initially thought that he must have been pulling her leg but he admitted he was unsure how to spell the destination so 'sounded it out'.

Alisha said he must have had a 'little moment of madness' given his spelling is generally good - and although Scott, 26, was left a little red-faced, he's managed to laugh off his blunder. She shared a screenshot of her search history, with a 'roti', an Indian flatbread, pictured alongside pools and palm trees, which has amassed more than 48,600 likes and retweets.
Scott explained he had had a 'total mind blank' and said his advice to others was to 'stay in school', while ensuring their partners have '0 Twitter followers'. Alisha, from Carlisle in Cumbria, said: "We were sat in Greggs and we'd been talking about wanting to book a holiday.
"We were thinking about destinations and we both said that we'd never been to Lanzarote. So I gave him my phone to keep on looking at holidays when I went up to the counter to get some food.
"I sat back down and he gave me my phone back and I looked at it and was like 'are you joking?' And he's like 'no, what do you mean?' and asked 'why have you spelt it like that?'"
Scott said: "I had a moment of madness, [a] total mind blank! So I just tried sounding it out and hoped Google would correct me.
"After all that we ended up going to Salou anyway, [it's] easier to spell! On reflection, my only advice is stay in school kids and try to find a girlfriend with zero Twitter followers!"
Alisha and Scott, who'll be celebrating their seven year anniversary next month ended up jetting off to Salou in Spain on their holiday. She said: "He said 'I didn't know how to spell it so I thought I'd kind of go back to how you do it in school and sound it out'.
"That's what he tried to do I recon and that's how it came up like that. I posted it on Twitter to poke a bit of fun at him, in a playful way obviously.
"He saw the funny side to it and tried to play it off like 'I'm not bothered, you knew what I meant'. He's hardly on social media at all and he was a bit embarrassed but he gets on with it.
"When I messaged him [after tweet went viral] and was like 'are you ok?' He was like 'oh my God no, I'm hiding. I'm going to move to a different country, I'm too embarrassed'.
"In general his spelling is alright to be fair, he's not bad. He got all his GCSEs. I think it was a little moment of madness for him. We always say that after this, we are going to have to go to Lanzarote at some point - it's got to be completed I think."
Alisha's hilarious tweet received over 43,000 likes - with plenty of users tagging their friends who'd seemingly made similar mistakes. One said: "Iron appa"
Another commented: "Ambishious." A third remarked: "Anahahahahahahahahahhhah dead."
Another user added: "Where ya off to, mate? Not sure, either tenner reef or lands of roti." A fifth said: "Hahahha. At least someone else has a boyfriend as dopey as me."
