Susanna Reid has challenged Boris Johnson on his honesty over several partygate statements made in the House of Commons.
The Prime Minister appeared for the first time in 1,791 days on Good Morning Britain after he boycotted the programme over Piers Morgan.
The host asked Johnson if he was honest after he said no parties took place and all the guidance was followed during the covid lockdown in Downing Street and Whitehall.
Last month the Tory leader received a fixed notice penalty from the Metropolitan Police for attending his birthday party in the Cabinet Room in Number 10 in June 2019.
Johnson insisted he is an "honest" politician as he admitted being "inadvertently" wrong in his comments to parliament about the partygate row.
Reid said: "So many people want to know, are you honest Prime Minister?"
Johnson replied: "Yes. I think the best way to judge that is to look at what this Government says it's going to do and what it does."
"I do my best to represent faithfully and accurately what I believe, and sometimes it's controversial and sometimes it offends people, but that's what I do."
In response to a suggestion that some people believe he is a liar.
Johnson said: "If you are talking about the statements I've made in the House of Commons, I was inadvertently... I was wrong and I've apologised for that."
