Are resale tickets for Oasis valid? Here's what to know

For many Oasis fans up and down the country, this weekend was a nightmare scenario. Logging on at 9am to purchase tickets for Oasis’s reunion tour next year, millions of people were faced with delays, technical issues, the site crashing, or massively inflated ticket prices.

To make things worse, all 17 tour dates announced by the band sold out within hours. So going onto resale websites to see if any are available second-hand sounds like the best scenario. But beware: with tickets being listed on sites like Viagogo for many times their face value, the chances of paying out of pocket are high.

To make things worse, Oasis has issued a warning to second-hand sellers, barring them from selling tickets on anywhere except the pre-agreed websites.

As the resale begins, here’s what to know.

Are resale tickets valid?

Resale tickets for Oasis’s upcoming gigs are only valid if purchased through the official platforms – that is, Ticketmaster and Twickets.

Oasis themselves have warned fans against selling them elsewhere, tweeting: “We have noticed people attempting to sell tickets on the secondary market since the start of the pre-sale. Please note, tickets can ONLY be resold, at face value, via @Ticketmaster and @Twickets. Tickets sold in breach of the terms and conditions will be cancelled by the promoters.”

When is the resale?

The resale officially started from today, September 2.

How many tickets are being resold?

Sadly, we don’t know how many resale tickets are being put on the market, nor for which gigs.

What happens if you get a resale ticket?

If you’ve managed to nab a ticket – congratulations! Secondly, those with secondhand tickets have been advised to check the terms and conditions when checking out to ensure a smooth experience, and to book through Ticketmaster. If not, they could be voided.

What is dynamic pricing?

The market model, also known as surge pricing, inflates prices at peak demand.

This saw Oasis fans hurried into paying much more than they were expecing - including some who forked out £355 when expecting to pay £148.

Education secretary Bridget Phillipson on Monday indicated the Government could investigate “dynamic pricing” for flights and holidays after a row over the sale of Oasis tickets

When is Oasis playing?

Their official dates are:

Cardiff Principality Stadium: July 4-5

Manchester Heaton Park: July 11,12, 16, 19 and 20

London Wembley Stadium: July 26, 30, August 2 and 3

Edinburgh Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium: August 8, 9 and 12

Dublin Croke Park: August 16 and 17
