Ardal O'Hanlon leaves Channel 4 viewers in stitches as he makes Taskmaster debut

Taskmaster viewers fell in love with Ardal O'Hanlon as the popular series began a new run on Thursday night.

The former Father Ted actor is one of the contestants on series 13 of the Channel 4 show, which sees celebrities compete in a series of bizarre challenges presented to them by the Taskmaster Greg Davies and his assistant Alex Horne.

Ardal is up against Bridget Christie, Chris Ramsey, Judi Love and Sophie Duker, with the first episode of the series airing on Thursday night.

Naturally, we got some beautifully bizarre moments - like when Bridget found a will and testament in a skip.

But Ardal's first effort had him looking for ducks, his second task saw a creative use of lipstick and then we had a duel involving yoghurts.

All things that you would expect from his famous Father Ted character!

Viewers couldn't help but express their love for the Monaghan native.

One tweeted: "I feel like Ardal might be the one who slowly loses his mind this series. He's lovely and this show will break him

A second added: "I love it when people find their Taskmaster Archetype right away and Ardal appears to have locked into "bewildered but happy to be here" from the off"

While a third laughed: "Straight off the bat and I can already tell you Ardal O'Hanlon is going to be my absolute all time favourite contestant in Taskmaster history...my god...I love him and I'm 13 minutes in"

A fourth noted: "Ardal is already a favourite just from the duck task."
