Temperatures have dropped to below zero across Leeds meaning many places are eligible for cold weather payments.
These payments were introduced by the government to help people who receive certain benefits to get through the cold winter months. If your weather has been or is forecasted to be under zero degrees Celsius for seven days, you may be eligible for the £25 payment.
Across Leeds, freezing temperatures have already led to disruption and temperatures have been low for a long period of time.

To check if you are eligible for the money you can use the government's postcode checker. By typing in every Leeds postcode area, Leeds Live has found every postcode area, from LS1 to LS29, in the city is eligible for one payment.
If you want to receive a cold weather payment, you must receive one of the following:
- Pension credit
- Income support
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Universal Credit
- Support for Mortgage Interest
You should receive one payment for every week of below zero degree weather. The money should come your way automatically.
