Ireland will see a return to freezing temperatures before the weekend is out, Met Eireann has confirmed.
While the country has experienced milder conditions, as well as plenty of wind and rain, since snow blanketed many areas at the beginning of this month, Ireland will see temperatures plummet to as low as -3C on Sunday night.
The national forecaster explained that Sunday will open with cloudy conditions and a few showers, which will gradually clear away throughout the course of the afternoon, when some sunny spells are set to develop.

Daytime temperatures on Sunday will range from 6C to 8C in the north and 11C to 13C in the south. These will drop considerably upon nightfall, however.
Met Eireann confirmed that most areas will experience subzero temperatures on Sunday night, leading into Monday morning, with frost and icy patches likely.
Munster is expected to escape the worst effects of the cold, however, as temperatures will remain slightly above 0C.
"Any showers will clear away with long clear and dry spells developing," a Met Eireann spokesperson said of Sunday night.
"Winds will fall light and temperatures will fall widely below freezing with -1 to -3 degrees. Frost and icy patches expected overnight in central and northern areas but it will stay a touch milder over Munster with temperatures staying just above freezing."
The subzero blast, brought about by a plume of Arctic air, will be short-lived thankfully as Monday will see a return to milder temperatures.
Showers are forecast for southern areas on Monday morning but the rest of the country will remain dry in temperatures of between 8C and 10C, and they won't drop below 4C overnight.
