Archway stabbings: Man charged with murders of boy, 15, and 23-year-old in Islington

A man has been charged with murder after a young man and a teenage boy were stabbed to death in north London.

Abel Chunda, 26, of Highgate Hill, has been charged with two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, and possession of an offensive weapon in connection with the incident in Elthorne Road, Archway.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court later on Wednesday.

Police were called at 11.33pm last Thursday to reports of a stabbing and 15-year-old Leonardo Reid was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 23-year-old man, who has not yet been named, died in hospital.

A third victim, believed aged 28, was also found at an address in the N19 area, police said. He had suffered a stab wound, and was taken to a north London hospital.

Police said in a statement on Friday that they believed a large number of people were present when the attack took place and are urging witnesses and those with information to come forward.

Chief Superintendent Andy Carter said: “My thoughts are with the families of the two victims who have suffered such an unimaginable loss in this shocking and unacceptable incident.”
