SAITAMA -- The Kadokawa Culture Museum designed by renowned architect Kengo Kuma -- who is known for designing the new National Stadium -- was unveiled to the media Thursday in Tokorozawa, Saitama Prefecture, prior to its official opening on Aug. 1.

The five-story rock-like polyhedral structure about 40 meters high is built by major publisher Kadokawa Corp. and comprises about 20,000 granite panels.

Huge bookshelves about 8 meters tall soar inside the facility, and the space contains a library as well as art and science museums.
