The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s newborn son has made his social media debut as the royal couple welcomed their new arrival with an Instagram post.
Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor’s first photos garnered more than one million likes on Instagram within an hour of the post being shared.
Three photos taken by one of Harry and Meghan’s favourite photographers Chris Allerton were posted on the couple’s account on Wednesday afternoon.
The post, which hit one million likes within an hour and doubled that by 9pm, was shared on the day the duke and duchess revealed the name of their baby.
Announcing the child's name, Meghan and Harry said on Instagram: "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are pleased to announce they have named their first born child: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
"This afternoon Their Royal Highnesses introduced Her Majesty The Queen to her eighth great-grandchild at Windsor Castle.
"The Duke of Edinburgh and The Duchess' mother were also present for this special occasion."
Earlier, a relaxed looking Duke and Duchess of Sussex proudly showed off two-day-old Archie.
The Duchess declared: "It's magic, it's pretty amazing. I have the two best guys in the world so I'm really happy."
As her husband held their son, Meghan added: "He has the sweetest temperament, he's really calm."
Harry said: "I don't know who he gets that from."
The duke and duchess launched their own Instagram @Sussexroyal in April.
Within six minutes of being set up, the account had over 8,000 followers.
It comes after Meghan closed her personal social media accounts when the couple became engaged in November 2017.
She closed her lifestyle blog, The Tig, soon after she and Harry started dating a year earlier.
