Archie's first birthday: Harry and Meghan release adorable video of their son as she reads story to him for Save The Children campaign

The Duchess of Sussex has been filmed reading her son Archie a story as part of a charity video released to mark his first birthday today.

Meghan chose to read Duck! Rabbit!, one of Archie's favourite books, in the video which was filmed by Prince Harry.

The video is a contribution to Save The Children's 'Save With Stories' campaign, which is helping support vulnerable children around the world during the COVID-19 pandemic with early learning packs, supermarket vouchers and virus protection.

Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex reads

'Thank you #DuchessMeghan for helping us to raise urgent funds for our coronavirus appeal by reading Duck! Rabbit!' the charity wrote in an Instagram post accompanying the video.

A press statement on behalf of Meghan and Harry added, 'As they celebrate this family moment, the Duke and Duchess wanted to continue to raise awareness around the urgency of bringing food and learning resources to millions of children. The Duchess chose to read one of Archie’s favourite stories, 'Duck! Rabbit!'

Other high profile names who have read books for the Save With Stories campaign include Jennifer Garner, Natalie Portman, Amy Adams and Reese Witherspoon.

Archie will be spending his first birthday at home in California with just his parents as a statewide stay-at-home order continues.

Harry and Meghan officially stepped down from their roles as senior royals on 31st March, relocating to the US from Canada before lockdown.

Last month, they announced the name of their new charitable organisation, Archewell.

The name was conceived after the Greek word Arche, which means source of action, and also inspired the name of their son.
