Leeds United beat Brisbane Roar 2-1 at the Cbus Super Stadium to get their tour of Australia off to a winning start. Dan James and Joe Gelhardt scored the goals, with both efforts coming in the first half, while Brisbane trialist Joe Knowles bagged for the A-League side.
Here’s a look at some of the moments you may have missed from the clash Down Under.
Distant voices
A large majority of the supporters inside the Cbus Super Stadium were of a Leeds persuasion and the Whites certainly made their voices heard throughout the contest. However, until kick-off, they could only be heard from beyond the stand.

Plenty of supporters made the decision to stay in the concourse until kick-off, but their voices could be heard echoing around the stadium as they belted out the usual numbers. A few hundred supporters gathered before the game in the Broadbeach Tavern and they were understandably in high spirits as they entered the ground.
Some fans were based in Australia but a remarkable amount of supporters have made the 10,200 mile trip from Yorkshire. Outstanding effort.
Brisbane roaring
Although the game was played an hour outside of Brisbane, a host of Roar supporters made the trip down to Gold Coast, with an small pack of Ultras parking themselves behind the goal. The group, about 30-strong, produced a banner that read ‘The Den’, a drum and whistles before singing their heart out throughout the game.
They clearly enjoyed watching their side take on Premier League opposition, too, as the Roar posed plenty of questions and found the back of the net in the first half of the contest as trialist Joe Knowles beat Kris Klaesson with a close-range effort.
Anything you can do I can do better
At times in the first half it felt as if Marc Roca and skipper Adam Forshaw were competing to produce the perfect pass. Both players could be seen lofting deft balls into attacking positions, one after the other, during a period of real dominance.
Roca delivered one of the first, finding Kristensen on the corner of the box and in the next few minutes, Forshaw produced two high quality lofted passes to create chances on either side of the field. The pair played well together, with Forshaw taking the opportunity to make a real statement during his 45 minutes on the field.
He has a battle on his hands for a regular spot in the side this season and while the quality of opposition must be taken into account, Marsch will have been impressed.
Klich's gesture
Marsch took the opportunity to make changes at the half-time interval and the likes of Mateusz Klich, Cody Drameh, Leif Davis, Tyler Adams and Darko Gyabi were sent out onto the turf to warm themselves up. However, a number of children were also on the pitch at the time having a small game and as Klich made his way out onto the grass, a ball rolled his way.
The Poland international took the opportunity to make a child’s day by playing a bit of one-two with him on the pitch. It was a nice moment and something he certainly didn't need to do as he prepared for his first run out of pre-season.
Biggest cheer of the night
Leeds fans had to wait until the 80th minute before seeing 16-year-old Archie Gray step onto the field and they welcomed him in style with a huge roar of encouragement. The youngster has a bright future ahead of him and the fans are excited to see how he develops over the coming months and years.
The youngster had a few tidy touches and when he received the ball on the edge of the area, the entirety of the Leeds end of the ground cried ‘shoot’, before seeing him turn and pass the ball to Crysencio Summerville. He’s very much part of Jesse Marsch’s first team at Elland Road and he is expected to make his senior debut this season at some point.
