Archery prodigy targeting success at World Archery Youth Championships

A Co. Down archery prodigy will be targeting success at the World Archery Youth Championships this month as the youngest squad member of Team Ireland, thanks to support from Belfast-based PR and Advertising agency – ASG & Partners.

15-year-old Jess Murray from Newtownards is preparing to take to the world stage at the highly competitive World Archery Youth Archery Championships taking place in Limerick (1 st – 9 th July 2023).

Jess attracted the attention of Ireland’s team selection panel after a stellar performance at an Indoor competition in Dublin in March 2023, where she outperformed her Junior Class rivals, finishing only 11 points behind the winner of the highly competitive Senior Ladies class.

The Co. Down native picked up her first bow at 6-years-old and was competing regularly by the age of 12-years-old until a series of injuries and academic commitments curtailed her performances on the competition range.

She bounced back in 2021 to secure her first major competition win by triumphing in the Northern Ireland U16 Indoor Target Championships. This impressive form continued in 2022 with a treble of runner-up positions in the Senior Ladies, U18 Ladies Indoor, and U18 Ladies Outdoor Championships.

Jess recently joined the esteemed Millennium Archers in Dublin under the expert tutelage of long-term coach, Michael Ferguson, travelling up and down for competitions and training sessions as she prepares to compete at the World Archery Youth Championships.

Emma Murray, Deputy CEO of ASG & Partners said: “Jess's exceptional talent and dedication to her craft are truly inspiring, and we are delighted to be a part of her journey as she prepares to compete in the esteemed World Archery Youth Championships.

“We have every confidence that she will showcase her skills on the international stage, and we wish her every success and know that she has a bright future ahead in the world of archery."

Michael Ferguson, Coach, said: “Jess's journey has been nothing short of extraordinary, and her achievements at such a young age are a testament to her exceptional talent and unwavering dedication.

“I’m thrilled that ASG & Partners has stepped forward to help sponsor Jess as she embarks on her quest for success at the World Archery Youth Championships.

“The costs associated with competing at such a prestigious event can be significant and we invite other businesses and organisations to join ASG & Partners in supporting Jess to ensure she continues to have the necessary resources to compete at the highest level.”
