Arch Manning To Start At Quarterback For No. 1 Texas

Top-ranked Texas will be starting Arch Manning at quarterback this Saturday against Louisiana-Monroe as regular starter Quinn Ewers continues to recover from a strained muscle in his abdomen, according to head coach Steve Sarkisian.

This will mark Manning's first career start as a second-year freshman. Manning stepped in for Ewers during the second quarter in the previous game against UTSA, where he showcased an impressive performance by throwing four touchdowns and adding another one through a rushing play in a dominant 56-7 victory for Texas.

Arch Manning comes from a prestigious football lineage, being the son of Cooper Manning, the grandson of former NFL quarterback Archie Manning, and the nephew of Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning.

Ewers has a history of injuries, having missed several games over the past two seasons due to shoulder and sternum issues.

Currently holding the No. 1 spot for the first time since 2008, Texas is gearing up to face the Warhawks in their final game before embarking on their inaugural SEC schedule, starting with a matchup against Mississippi State on September 28.
