Arbroath's social media team only had one word for it after Kilmarnock shattered their automatic promotion dream: f*** .
The Lichties' pursuit of Premiership football has been one of the stories of the season and they were 12 minutes away from going into the final day with the title in their hands.
Dick Campbell's side are the only part-time team in the second tier but they stood on the brink of history when James Craigen put them in front at Rugby Park.
Victory would have sent them into the final day two points ahead and likely only needing a draw to go up.
But Ash Taylor rescued it for Killie with an equaliser on 78 minutes and that was followed bu jubilant scenes in stoppage time when Blair Alston won it with a fine finish.
And a tweet going out from the Arbroath account summed up exactly how their supporters will have felt in that moment as it read simply: "f***."
It wasn't the first X-rated tweet of the night either as moments earlier they had celebrated a wonderful stop from keeper Derek Gaston with one that read "Derek F’ing Gaston."
It's heartbreak for Arbroath but once the dust has settled, Dick Campbell will be reminding his stars the dream is very much still on.
They are guaranteed second place in the Championship meaning promotion is still within their hands.
They will play either Inverness, Partick Thistle or Raith Rovers in the playoff semi-final before a potential showdown with the Premiership's 11th-placed side.
That looks likely to be St Johnstone but Dundee can still catch the Saints while any of the top flight's bottom six could still be dragged back into it.
