Applications open for Lanarkshire businesses to take part in Queen's Awards for Enterprise

The application process for the prestigious Queen’s Awards for Enterprise is opening in May this year and local businesses are being encouraged to take part.

Promoted by the Lieutenancy of Lanarkshire, The Queen’s Awards are the most prestigious awards for UK businesses and are a globally recognised royal seal of approval for UK companies.

The Awards for Enterprise have been operating in various forms since 1966, developing over the years into the current format comprising four categories: innovation; international trade; sustainable development and promoting opportunity through social mobility.

Terry Currie, Deputy Lieutenant and chairman for the Lanarkshire Lieutenancy Business Group, said: “Previous winners have confirmed the main reason they entered for a Queen’s Award is for the prestige it brings to their business.

“Both at home and overseas, respect for the company is enhanced with this notable achievement.

“Winners find that having the award can often make a difference in gaining an introduction to new customers. Award winners have found that it is also a wonderful promotional opportunity for publicity in local and national press as well as trade magazines.”

The majority of winning companies have below 250 employees but there are also many larger businesses which have been successful.

The application process for the 2023 Awards is open from May to September 2022.
