Ted Lasso series four announced by Apple TV+ with Jason Sudeikis to return

Emmy award-winning series Ted Lasso is returning for a fourth season, Apple TV+ has announced.

US actor Jason Sudeikis reprises the role of Ted, coach of AFC Richmond, who left the club in series three to return to America.

Sudeikis, 49, said: “As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap’, in season four the folks at AFC Richmond learn to leap before they look, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”

In series three, Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) stepped up as assistant coach, alongside coach Beard (Brendan Hunt), while Ted (Sudeikis) dealt with personal issues back home.

Among the other stars of Ted Lasso are Game Of Thrones star Hannah Waddingham, comedian Nick Mohammed, Wild Child actress Juno Temple, and The Devil’s Hour actor Phil Dunster.

Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+ said: “Ted Lasso has been nothing short of a juggernaut, inspiring a passionate fanbase all over the world, and delivering endless joy and laughter, all while spreading kindness, compassion and unwavering belief.

“Everyone at Apple is thrilled to be continuing our collaboration with Jason and the brilliant creative minds behind this show.”

Ted Lasso has received 61 Emmy nominations in total and won 13, with Sudeikis picking up the lead actor in a comedy series gong in 2021 and 2022.

The series was developed by Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Joe Kelly and Brendan Hunt, and is based on the pre-existing format and characters from NBC Sports.

Broadcast details are yet to be announced.
