Consumer electronics giant Apple on Tuesday became the first company to close regular-session trading with a market capitalization greater than $3.5 trillion. Apple stock ended the day at $3.507 trillion.
On Friday, Apple stock reclaimed the title of world's most valuable company when it surpassed Microsoft in market value. Microsoft finished regular trading Tuesday with a market cap of $3.415 trillion.
Microsoft's highest closing market cap was $3.475 trillion on July 5.
Earlier in the session Tuesday, Apple stock fell as much as 0.6% after an analyst said cautious consumer spending could hurt iPhone 16 sales this fall. In intraday trading on the stock market today, Apple notched an all-time high of 229.40. It ended the day up 0.4% to 228.68.
Apple Stock Has Had String Of Firsts
In August 2018, Apple became the first company to hit a market cap of $1 trillion. In August 2020, it was the first to reach a market cap of $2 trillion. And in June 2023, Apple stock was the first hit a valuation of $3 trillion.
