Apple's Macos Ventura Facing Multiple Issues On Millions Of Macs

Apple logo

Apple recently released an update to macOS Sonoma to address various bugs and issues, but many MacBook, iMac, and Mac users are still experiencing problems with their devices. The latest macOS Ventura update has brought about multiple issues, making it challenging for users to operate their Macs effectively. Reported problems include connectivity issues with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, failed Time Machine backups, UI lag, TouchID malfunctions, and various glitches in both first- and third-party applications.

Although Ventura is not the most recent macOS version, it is the latest one compatible with millions of Macs and MacBooks still under support. For users with Intel-based Macs from 2017 or earlier, macOS Ventura is the highest available update, ensuring that Apple continues to provide code enhancements and security patches.

Apple continued selling Intel-based Mac hardware until June 2023, when it introduced the first ARM-based Apple Silicon-powered Mac Pro. In 2017, Apple shipped 19.7 million Macs, a slight increase from the 18.6 million units in 2016, with the majority being MacBook, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro laptops.

Typically, a MacBook is expected to remain in use for 5 to 8 years on average, with desktop Macs lasting a bit longer. While some users may have upgraded their hardware over time, there are still millions of active Macs that could be impacted by the recent issues introduced in macOS Ventura 13.6.6.

Apple has recently moved new versions of iOS 17.5, watchOS 10.5, and macOS Sonoma 14.5 into beta testing, indicating a forthcoming public release in a few weeks. Given that macOS Ventura updates are usually released alongside macOS Sonoma updates, it may be well into May before potential fixes for the widespread Mac issues are implemented—assuming the next release can address all the reported problems.

In the meantime, users who have the option to update to macOS Ventura 13.6.6 should carefully consider their choices. While this update includes the latest security patches, it also brings a significant number of issues that may impact the user experience.
