Apple's MacBook Pro and iMac rumoured for October refresh

Apple may be planning a Mac-focused product launch for later this October, which could include a refreshed 24-inch iMac and 13-inch MacBook Pro.

The 24-inch iMac has not had a hardware update in the best part of three years, since the first quarter of 2021. It’s also the only Mac that still uses the M1 chip, which has been completely phased out in other models.

In its “Power On” hardware-focused newsletter, Bloomberg pointed towards limited stocks of 13, 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro, both online and in Apple stores, saying that these are also likely in for a hardware fresh.

The analyst believes that the fact many of these higher-end MacBook models aren’t set to ship until mid-November is a “clear sign” that something is set to change.

According to the predictions, the announcement may take place as soon as  Monday, 30 October or Tuesday, 31 October.

This means the announcement would fall just a few days before the tech giant’s earnings call, one the most important dates of the year for its investor's share price.

However, despite predicting a revamp, the sources predict that your iMac experience is still likely to remain largely the same.

The analyst thinks that we’re set just to see “minor improvements to displays” and faster processors.

MacBook fans may have to wait until the new iMac Pro in 2025 or the new MacBook Pros featuring OLED screens in 2026 if they want a truly updated experience according to predictions.

Outside of the Mac world, Apple aficionados will soon have tons of new choices on their hands.

Apple’s flagship launch event early last month saw the company launch two brand new iPhones 15s and two new Apple Watches.

The company also announced a sizable update to its AirPods, opting to swap Apple’s own Lightning charging port for the widely used USB-C standard.
