Apple respond as iPhone 14 'vibrates' for Instagram and TikTok users

Apple has responded after the many people complained the new iPhone 14 had a bug.

Users claimed the £1,700 phone has a bug which causes the camera to fail when they try to use certain social media apps such as TikTok, Instagram and Snapchat.

Some owners say the issue causes grinding sounds and vibrates the entire phone. This is mainly reported for the most expensive out of the two new phones, the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

This bug seems to affect the optical image stabilisation (OIS) feature, which uses a motor to stop an image from looking blurred when taking pictures. Opening the camera in these apps causes the OIS to bug out.

The audible grinding sounds cannot be heard and the vibration does not happen when using the built-in camera app. Continuously using these apps and causing excess vibration can cause permanent damage to the OIS system.

The company said in a post published in January 2022 said: "“The OIS and closed-loop AF [autofocus] systems in iPhone are designed for durability.

“However, as is the case with many consumer electronics that include systems such as OIS, long-term direct exposure to high-amplitude vibrations within certain frequency ranges may degrade the performance of these systems and lead to reduced image quality for photos and videos. It is recommended to avoid exposing your iPhone to extended high-amplitude vibrations.”

Apple said it was aware of the problem and will be releasing a software update next week.

An Apple spokesperson told MacRumors: "We’re aware of the issue and a fix will be released next week." It is likely that the fix will be included in an iOS 16.0.2 software update.
