Apple Might Be Ready To Introduce This Key New Product

Apple is like a shark. It’s always moving.

By the time you have the latest iPhone in your hand or you’ve downloaded the latest iOS operating system, Tim Cook and company are already working on what’s next.

Apple has a core group of supporters (some of whom probably work in your office’s IT room) that will pick-up the latest iteration of pretty much anything they introduce. But even for the more casual, “buy a new phone or laptop every three years or so” crowd, Apple is always trying to stay ahead of the competition. Sometimes that’s a major overhaul, other years its a few minor tweaks. (No one has a breakthrough every year, not even Apple.)

So, with that in mind…what’s next?

Next week is Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in which the company unveils its latest products, as well as its software updates. The event kicks off on June 5, but for anyone impatient and who doesn’t mind spoilers, rumors have already started to swirl about what might get announced

A tweet from Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman indicated that he believes a new MacBook and an operating system are in the works, as well as a mixed reality headset.

What Is The Reality Pro?

Dubbed the The Reality Pro, the headset is rumored to cost $3,000 and could be Apple’s answer to Meta. It is said the device will run iPad apps on its built-in 4K displays, and will link with Apple accessories.

Mixed reality, or Augmented Reality as it is sometimes known, is still largely seen as a space mostly for avid video game players, and not something that more casual technology users have much need of. This is one of several reasons Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta gambit has not caught on with the general public.

Will The Reality Pro change that? That’s not something that will quickly be answered next week, but we’ll at least get a confirmed indication of Apple’s plans.

It's also been rumored that next week will see the arrival of latest iteration of the Mac Pro and Mac Studio desktop computer, which are expected to get upgraded to the M2 chip, which doubles the speed of its predecessor, and has a longer battery life, better connectivity and 8K capabilities.

The announcement of a 13-inch MacBook Air laptop with the M2 computer is also been heavily buzzed about, and it is also expected that Apple will begin accepting trade-ins for the new products.
