Apple has announced the introduction of transcripts for Apple Podcasts, a new feature aimed at enhancing accessibility and user experience. Transcripts offer users the ability to read the full text of podcast episodes, making it easier to search for specific content and navigate through episodes seamlessly.
With transcripts, users can now follow along with the podcast by reading the text while listening, allowing for a more immersive experience. The feature enables users to search for keywords or phrases within the transcript and tap on the text to play the podcast from that point in the episode.
Transcripts on Apple Podcasts cater to a wide range of users, including those who are Deaf or hard of hearing, as well as individuals looking to learn a new language or find specific information mentioned in an episode. The design of the transcripts focuses on improving accessibility, with font and color contrast optimized for easy readability.
Transcripts are currently available for English, French, Spanish, and German-language podcasts on iPhone and iPad with iOS 17.4 and iPadOS 17.4. While translations between languages are not provided, transcripts for new episodes will be automatically generated shortly after publication, with older episodes being transcribed over time.
Creators also have the option to provide their own transcripts through RSS tags or Apple Podcasts Connect for subscriber episodes. This initiative aligns with Apple's commitment to inclusivity and accessibility, ensuring that all users can enjoy the podcasting experience to the fullest.
Transcripts can be accessed in over 170 countries and regions, offering a valuable tool for podcast listeners worldwide. For more information on how to utilize transcripts on Apple Podcasts, creators can visit podcasters.apple.com/support/5316-transcripts-on-apple-podcasts.
