Appeal to find man after three victims have bank cards stolen when distracted outside Morrisons

Police have issued a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to after three victims had their bank cards stolen from Morrisons in Rochdale. The thief, who officers believe uses distraction tactics, has been carrying out his crimes from the ATM machines outside the supermarket on Kingsway.

One elderly gentleman was distracted by the offender when his bank card was stolen earlier this month. Later, the card was used to withdraw £250 from an ATM at the Shell Eagle Service Station on Queensway, also in Rochdale.

Police said there are 'at least' two more victims had their cards stolen after the criminal used the same technique. Enquiries have been ongoing since early September, with the force now issuing images of a male, wearing a cap and face mask, they want to speak to as part of their ongoing investigation.

Greater Manchester Police have also shared an image of two further people they would like to speak to as they believe they may have witnessed the offence and are encouraging any others who believe they may have been a victim of the same crime to come forward.

A post on the GMP Rochdale page read: "We are appealing for help to identify a man we wish to speak to in relation to a number of bank card thefts in Rochdale. An elderly man’s bank card was stolen earlier this month at the 3 ATM machines at Morrisons, Kingsway, Rochdale after he was distracted by the offender.

"The card was then used to withdraw £250 at an ATM at the Shell Eagle Service Station, Queensway, Rochdale. At least two more victims were targeted after also being distracted."

"Enquiries have been ongoing since early September. If you think you have also been a victim of this crime, please get in touch with officers."
