The expansion of the College Football Playoff has prompted a shift in how The Associated Press constructs its all-bowl team. To address the disparity between players participating in various bowl games, the AP has introduced two distinct postseason all-star teams: one for non-playoff bowl game participants and another for those in the playoffs.

For the non-CFP AP All-Bowl team, the offensive lineup features two running backs, three wide receivers, and an all-purpose player. The defensive side includes four defensive linemen and four linebackers, accommodating different defensive schemes.

The offensive line consists of five overall linemen, while the secondary comprises four general defensive backs. Notable performances from various bowl games have earned these players a spot on the non-CFP AP All-Bowl team.
